Want to up your cake making skills with some abstract buttercream techniques? Well, this is the workshop for you.

With over 14 years experience in the industry and a qualification in Pastry, Christina Blaby from @BoutiqueCakeArt dives into the start to finish techniques used to create this canvas style buttercream cake, topped with a tropical array of wired flowers.

It’s not just about making cakes looks fancy. Although this workshop certainly ticks all the right boxes. Christina is very thorough when teaching the ‘basics’ of how a cake is stacked, leveled and doweled. The perfect workshop for scrubbing up on the basics whilst learning a more advanced skill to add to the repertoire.

What you will learn:

  • Leveling, filling, stacking and doweling a double barrel cake: 6inch round height 6inches (She ain’t going to move, anywhere!)
  • Masking your cake- (Trapping all those little cake crumbs, so you have a smooth final product)
  • Mixing colours- (How to achieve different tones that compliment each other)
  • Applying canvas textured buttercream – (We also show you the best tools to use for easy application)
  • Wiring, taping and arranging flowers (What flowers to use and those to avoid)
